Cuatro Update

Cuatro has been showing in San Angelo this week. I just got a phone call that he won Reserve Champion of the steer show ! I was on the phone with Mom while they were judging and she started screaming like a little girl! I will post a picture later when I get one! ( of course I won't be in it again!)

Bye Bye Jerry

This morning Jerry met the wrong side of a Goodyear. He is now laying next to Sandy. Matt took the news well. He's already talking about a new dog. That's what happens when you are country people who let their dogs run wild. I am going to miss that little puppy though. He was cute!

Addison is Growing

This past weekend Addison had cereal for the first time. I wasn't there to take pictures. Amber says she's a good little eater! It is a little early for her to be eating cereal, but the cardiologist said that he wanted to start her on it a little earlier because of her heart. He wants to get her as strong as possible before she goes into surgery.

Last night, Walon had to take the little head rest thingy out of her car seat because she was too big to have that thing in there with her.

Amber took Addison to the cardiologist a few weeks ago and this is what she found out:

First of all for anyone who want to know a bit more about her heart defect it is called tetralogy of fallot.

They are looking at having surgery in June. The cardiologist said that he usually likes to have the surgery around 6 months. He also told Amber that there isn't any difference between a 6 months heart and a year old heart, and he doesn't see any point in making the heart work harder for the extra 6 months. He said that the surgery would take between 2-6 hours depending on the condition of her pulmonary valve. He said that from what he can tell her heart defect is not as bad as others that he sees. When they actually meet with the surgeons, they will know how the pulmonary valve is looking better than he does. Addison will be in PICU for 72 hours after surgery for sure. She will have a breathing tube coming out of her mouth and tubes coming out of her sides. No one will be able to hold her until the breathing tube comes out which will probably be after the 72 hours. When she is able to be held, you can only her neck and butt. She can't be cuddled. She will definitely be in the hospital for 2 weeks. Depending if she get pneumonia or infection or something, then it will be longer. It will take her 6 weeks the fully heal up.

If you think of any questions that haven't been answered, please let me know. Amber likes for others to think of questions that she may not have thought of yet.

Also please keep Addison in your prayers and on your prayer lists. That's what she needs more than anything! Also pray for Amber and Walon that they stay strong! (I can't believe how strong they have been so far.)

Sad Day Sunday

It's been a long time coming and it finally happened. Cuatro is now taller than me.:( He came in Sunday afternoon and we stood back to back and he finally is taller than me. Now its a good thing for Cuatro. He has always been on the smaller side, so I'm glad that he is finally stretching out, but now I have to face the fact that my little brother is not little anymore. Of course being taller than me is not a great feat, but he was happy about it.

He's also at that stage where he likes to wrestle. He always tries to wrestle with Amber, Mom, and me. He was trying to throw me to the ground, and I just laid down so we wouldn't knock a hole in Mom's walls. He was like I can take you to the ground. I said you can take me to the ground when I am laughing, but you better not really tick me off. He said I know you'd kick my butt. He's seen me caliente a few times!

Anyways I am on my way to being the shortest person in my family. Good thing I still have cousins that are 26 years younger than me! Of course by the time they are my age, I'll probably start shrinking! The thing that always get I always say to make myself feel better is "They may be taller than me, but I am still the best looking!!" (PS I don't need to know if you disagree with me...remember if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!)

Uncle Matt and Mattie

The same weekend of Schauer Christmas, the Thoms' came down to Beeville. Sunday after Christmas was over and everyone was gone, we got to spend some time with them. Uncle Matt walked in and took off his big ole snake boots and Mattie wanted to wear them. Matt had to help her a bit! The bottom picture is a cuter picture of Mattie, but the photographer cut Matt's head off!!

Congratulations Cuatro!

This past week was the Bee County Junior Livestock and Homemakers Show. Cuatro entered a cake, steer, goat, lamb, and a pen of commercial heifers. He was Grand Champion with his steer, goat, lamb, and heifers. He was third place county wide with his apple pound cake. He also won showmanship with his steer and the goat. He also showed in Fort Worth, but that didn't turn out blog-worthy!! Now is the time when all of the major shows start, so soon he will be in San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and San Angelo. I will try to keep his placings (if he has any) updated for all of my many readers!
