Prayers Please

Addison will be having surgery again on Monday, August 23, 2010.  She had a check up about a month ago and the doctor thought everything looked really good...then he listened to her heart. We still don't know all the details of how long the surgery will take or exactly what it involves.  Amber and Walon meet with the surgeon on the 19th.  Just keep her in your prayers and I will keep you updated!  Thanks!

What's New Around Here

We have gotten a few new things around here since my last post, which has been awhile, and I apologize. First, Matt got this new gas grill. As you can see we were grilling our first meal on our new grill. We had corn on the cob and steaks. Yum-O! Matt was really excited about it.

Then we got a new propane tank to go with our new propane tankless water heater. We have been using, and still are, one of those 5 gallon propane tanks. Needless to saw I have had to finish a few of my showers with COLD water. Never a good thing. Anyways, I got to paint it. I was very excited. We haven't splurged for the copper tubing to run from the big propane tank to the house. But we will in a few months.
The storage room has been here awhile, but I just wanted to show how we coordinated the propane tank and the storage room!
We also got a new Boston Terrier named Lexie. She is the cutest little puppy! I don't have a picture of her on my camera, but you just have to take my word for it. She is growing really, really fast.
Yes, I have realized how incredibly boring we are after this post, and the lack of in the past few months. I will work on being more exciting, but I am not making any promises!

Me and My Big Mouth!

When Matt and I got married, I decided that I needed to enact a deer mount rule. My rule was that if there was going to be a dead deer hanging around my house, it had to score at least 150. For those of you who don't know, when you kill a deer, they use a tape measure to get the total inches of horns. 150 is a decent size deer. Matt already had killed 150 class deer with his bow. We like to call this guy "Deer."
"Deer"
Score-154
When we moved into our house, Deer was the first thing that was hung. Well the chances of getting 150 class deer with a bow are slim. Matt also has his own rule that he won't kill another buck if it is smaller than something he already has on the wall. So I'm thinking that I'm pretty safe with only having one mount in my house. I guess I didn't really know the guy I was marrying! In December, a "big" deer was spotted. Matt decided he was going to go down to Laredo and try get him. Matt and Cuatro went down and set up a pop-up blind where the deer had been spotted. Walon and his brother-in-law, Wayne, were also down there. One morning I get this phone call:
Matt:(with buck fever) I SHOT!
Me:(still not awake) What?
Matt: I Shot. I hit him.
Me: Did you got him?
Matt: I think so. I don't know where he went. I gotta go.
Me: Ok, call me when you find something out.
Long story short, they had to call dogs to track the deer. They finally found him about 9 at night.
"Bambi"
I got this in a text message about 11 that night.

"Bambi"
after he was scored with a total of 174 5/8
So yes, Bambi is going to be in the house too. Right now he isn't at the taxidermist yet, so I have a few more months of being a one deer mount house! I'm sure if you come to visit in the next 6-9 months, Bambi will be here! I tried to make a new rule that the next deer had to be at least 180 class deer, but Matt said 175. We will have to see what the future of Matt's deer hunting career brings!

Another One Bites the Dust

The snowball is rolling! In December we paid off the water softener AND made the first extra payment towards Matt's truck!

I don't make New Year's resolutions, because let's face it, I can't keep one! But our goal for this year is to finish paying off all of the rest of our car debt! If everything goes as planned, we can be debt free by the end of the year! I'm not going to lie, I want it be debt free YESTERDAY, but money doesn't grow on trees out in our yard!

I am already making a list of places I want to go and things that I want to do when we are debt free. I was telling Matt a few of them the other day and I think he was probably thinking "Where don't you want to go?"

I am currently listening to the DR radio show, and its Friday, so people are calling in with their "DEBT FREE" calls. I'm jealous. And now back to work!

i'll take you for a ride on MY big RED tractor!

After 9 loooonnnnnggggg months, we are finally the owners of this 1981(ish) 5088 International tractor!! I have been waiting to blog about this since the beginning of March! Then it was like pulling teeth to get Matt to move it so we could take this picture with OUR tractor. I am so proud of us!
This picture is a bit deceiving! Matt was doing a cartwheel and I was kicking my leg up(whoo hoo), and it JUST looks like I'm kicking his tushy!

We wanted to get a picture of both of us doing a cartwheel, but figured that would not end up the way we wanted it to, so I'm up against the tire and he's doing a cartwheel! (I was laughing at this point, and very shortly after this, I landed on my HEAD!)
Then we changed positions! We both need to work on keeping our legs straight when doing a cartwheel, or neither one of us is looking at a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics!
Gramps heard us outside laughing, and drove over to check out all the commotion, and he snapped the last two picture. And the good tractor salesman that he is, he told Matt to come over to the shop tomorrow, he has a new tractor to show him! I said, "NO NO NO!"
I was going to try to put this post to a song, but I'm not computer savvy enough, or patient enough to do this. Next time you hear the song "International Harvester" by Craig Morgan, you can think of us! All the other tractor songs are about the green kind! Here's a bit of the song for you!
I'm the son of a 3rd generation farmer
been married 10 years to the farmers daughter
I'm a God fearin', hard workin' combine driver
hoggin' up the road with my p-p-plower
Chug-a lug-a-luggin 5 mph
on my INTERNATIONAL harvester
P.S. I think that is one sexy tractor!
P.S.S. One step closer to "living like no one else!"
