Mattie came and stayed in Beeville with her grandparents the weekend before Christmas. Of course if Mattie (and/or her parents) are in town, we usually spent most of the weekend with them. Well Saturday morning I got off of work and went up to the Matheson's house and Mattie was sitting in her high chair. When I walked in she kinda said something. Then she said it again and Gramps asked her what she said again and she said SASA. Then she said it a few more times and we figured out that she was calling me SASA. Now if you weren't blessed with a name like Casandra, then you don't know how exciting it is to be given a name.
I knew when I was little that I was called SaSa, but I didn't know why. I asked my mom and she said that my little baby sister, Amber, couldn't say Casandra, so she called me SaSa. Then my dad and uncles picked up on it. Then she started calling me Tahandra. So obviously little ones connect Casandra to SaSa somehow! Anyways that was my excitement for the weekend!
Mattie also says Matt, but its kind of a short 'a' sound instead of a long one. Maybe kinda English accent sounding? I don't know how to describe it, but it is cute! But this post is about "SaSa" not uncle Matt!

He Hunts, I shop and shop and shop...
A couple of weekends ago Matt and the boys ( Walon, Cuatro, Wayne, Mr. Thoms, and Mr. Matheson) went to Laredo to do some hunting. What are the girls who are left behind to do?? Shop of course. I left to go to New Braunfels to have some Meredith, Mattie, and Mrs. Matheson time on Friday. On my way up there I stopped in Seguin to add to my name at the social security office. I had a hard time with the thought of "changing" my name so I just added to if. I guess if all it takes to be official is changing it at the social security office, then I am officially Casandra Kaye Schauer Matheson. ( I am getting pretty good at remembering to sign C Matheson.) That is one long name.
Anyways, after that I headed to New Braunfels to meet up with Mattie and Meredith. They were running a little later than they expected so I have to kill time somewhere. I went to Kohl's. Love that store. They got home and I went to visit. Later that evening, Mrs. Matheson got there and we went to eat at Oma's House. After that we drove past Schlitterbahn to check out the Christmas Lights and through downtown to see those lights. The next morning we went to the Outlet mall to do some more shopping. We had a wonderful time.
I was going to stay with Amber and Addison Saturday night, so when we got back to the Thoms' house I packed up and took off. I called Amber as I was pulling out of the driveway and she said " You wanna go to S A and go shopping?" My response? Yes, Of course. We went to SA and shopped around there for a while. That night I stayed there with them and got up for church the next morning.
It was a wonderful weekend with lots of good company and lots of shopping. I love spending time with my two little nieces. They are the cutest things. I guess their moms and grandmas aren't too bad either!
Now you are probably wondering about the hunters. Mr. Thoms shot a buck and Wayne got one with a bow. Unfortunately, Matt didn't get one. He follows the rule of not killing one if you have something bigger on the wall. Last year he got a 150-class buck, and he didn't have one step into his bow hunting range that was bigger this year. I am really soooo sad about that! I just loooovvveeeee dead animals hanging out all over the place!

27th Birthday
Ok, so my birthday was almost a month ago, but I still wanted to post something. Cuatro was showing goats and lambs here in Beeville, so after church I went out there to watch him show. I stayed there until the shavings started to bother me. That night, Meredith, Wayne, Mattie, and Mrs. Matheson came over for dinner. Mr. Matheson was sick and could not join us. We had enchilada casserole and rice for dinner. It was yummy. We also had ice cream cake and cookies. After dinner we had a little jam session Rock Band style! The next Wednesday, after Matt got off call, we went to Corpus and had dinner at the Outback and did a bit of shopping. We ended up getting Guitar Hero World Tour!

Sleeping with Tommy Lee
Matt and I have not invested in DirecTV yet. So as newlyweds you may wonder what we do to fill the time we have from after work to bedtime. Last night I went to bed with Tommy Lee.

I got RockBand for my birthday!! That's my little Tommy Lee!! Matt and I have both taken a turn at the microphone. We are both 98% singers. We have some mad skills. I can also tear it up on the guitar (on the medium level.) I'm sure Jerry, the new little puppy, is in the middle of the field howling at the moon when we get the microphone out! The picture was taken at about 8:30 pm last night. I was asleep in bed by 9:15 pm. That's what we do as newlyweds. Very boring.
PS: At what point are you not newlyweds anymore??

Baby Rouse Baby Shower
This past weekend we had a baby shower for Addison who is due in less than 6 weeks. We are all very excited and Addison has plenty to wear for the first few months of her life. There was lots and lots of PINK! I sure hope she comes out a girl!
I was trying to get all the gifts written down. It makes it kinda tough when I don't know what all that baby stuff is called!!
(Note the confused looking face!)

These pictures are in the opposite order of how I wanted to post them, but you get the idea.

Opening Weekend of Dove Season

(Bobby's already stuck)

September 20th was the opening day of dove season. The Matheson family had a small get together with family and a few friends. I didn't get any hunting pictures, but it was an eventful day. The boys had to play "my truck is better than your truck" which was started by Matt daring Kolby, and 8 year old, to take a 4-wheeler through the mud. Then Matt took Bobby's truck, and Kolby went again, then Wayne and Bobby had to try too. They tried to get me to take my Hummer through, but I had nothing to prove! (and I didn't want to make Mr. Matheson mad). Matt was given strict orders not to take my Jeep through! It was a fun afternoon though.
